I purchased this printer,HP Photosmart C309a series, in Feb 2010 and am just beginning to have some problems only with printing photos on photo paper. When I print on regular paper, the photo is clear and colours are good. When I print on photo paper the colours are all washed out similar to looking at a negative.

Has anyone ever experienced such a problem and if so, is there a solution prior to going out and buying a new printer.

@MeArtist,

What program are you using to print?

What setting when trying to print?  A screen shoot would help me.

Please get back to me and I will continue to help you.

Hi @MrArtist,

Thanks for becoming a member of the HP Support Forums. I understand you are having an issue with printing photos. I will be glad to help you.

If printing ok on plain paper, it may be the photo paper.

How old is the photo paper?

How was the photo paper stored?

Photo paper has a coating on it that harden in light or over time. The ink will blur and run together of coating is hard.

Please keep me informed of how things went.

If you require further assistance, let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help you.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Unfortunately this did not solve my problem.

I tried using a different photopaper, one specofied for my printer, and  had no success.

Back to square one.

I have decided not to pursue this any longer. I have purchased a Lazer printer instead.
Thanks for your help.
