Hi @Bigfrog,
It looks like you were interacting with @MKazi & @Barachiel, but they are out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,
I'm the Jeeet_Singh & I'm at your service.
As I understand you have also tried with the new router and still having the issue. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
* The router must have the 2.4G SSID band enabled with a different name than your 5.0G SSID band in your router.
* Make sure printer and router are at least 5 feet apart.
* Set router to a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never ‘auto’. Try channel 1 first then the others one at a time.
If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to update the printer firmware, if available. If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.
Once done, restart the computer, printer and router and then try to print and check if that works.
If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to assign a static IP address:
Let’s start by assigning a static IP address to the printer. Here are the steps:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says, “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says, “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
- Restart the printer and then router once done.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Eagerly waiting for your response!
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Hi Jeet,
I have been trying to get my Photosmart C7280 Printer to work wirelessly from my Windows 7 Computer (32 bit). Today I uninstalled it on my computer, and it now prints. In an unrealted move, I added an Apple Router 1408 to my network, so now I use 2 networks to alleviate my Wi Fi. For example the Wi fi signal on my Windows Computer was 96% before I added the router. It is now 100%. A problem I have had for over a year is when I receive a message from HP to install an update, it fails every time. Today it came up, and I thought it was going to download this time as it showed more progress during the downloading process, but no it failed again. I did write down some information on it his time. It said," HP Update Software Ultilty 3.1 MB 1.0 minute install. HP Update (HPU) is a software ultility that delivers and installs drivers, fixes, and critical software updates for computers and HP Products". That is most of the description. Ironically when I went to the HP Website the following update appeared for my 2 Macs. It was:
HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X
I downloaded it and installed it on both Macs. I assume this driver is the Mac Version of the Windows Updates on my Windows 7 Computer. Also when I went to the HP support website and entered Windows 7, the site said there was nothing available. Hope this information works. Maybe someway to download this HP Update to my Windows 7 Computer?

Hi @Bigfrog,
Thank you for replying,
As I understand you are having issues installing the update, I would suggest here is to update the drivers using HP Support Assistant on your PC.
Download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.
Let me know how it goes for further assistance!

Hi @Bigfrog,
Thank you for replying,
As I understand you have performed all possible troubleshooting and still having the issue, I would suggest you could try to create a new User account and check if that helps.
It looks like an operating system issue with the machine. TRy to create a new local user and then try to install the printer. Follow the steps here to create a local account on your PC: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows
Now, login to the new account and then try to install the printer and check.
If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. I would personally suggest you contact our HP phone support so that they can remotely take control of your PC and help you check the settings.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!
Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

Hi Jeet,
I don't think registrering the computer under another user will work, so I am not doing it for now. It describes information for adding another user for Windows 10, but not sure if it would work for Windows 7. I went onto the support link, but all I get is information on Windows 10. As I mentioned when I checked HP help before, I entered Windows 7 32 bit, they had nothing. The update usually comes up once a week, so probably sometime next week it should appear again. I'm thinking when it does, I may try connecting the HP Printer with an USB cord before attempting a connection. What would you advise?
