I am re-posting this as the issue is not resolved ... I have now stopped using the HP Smart App to print from mobile devices as it does not work. The "Tray Empty or Open" issue does not appear when using other print methods, therefore I'm assuming there is no hardware issue. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing (everything!) with no success!

Hi,

 

When using HP Smart app on iPhones I get an error stating "Tray Empty or Open". The main tray has paper and is closed.

 

I have no such problems when not using the HP Smart app ... if I select "Print" rather than "Print with HP Smart" I have no problem with trays empty or open?

 

Can anyone help?

I understand that you are getting a "tray Empty or Open message" on the HP Smart app, I am glad to assist you.

 

Follow these steps to fix this issue:-

Update the HP Smart app on your phone.

Update iOS on your phone:-

  • Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates on the printer.
