I am unable to print as the error shows both printerheads not working or not detected. I had a issue with ink spilling over on the header connectors. Scanner is working fine. Please suggest a solution. I have tried what customer care and virtual assistant suggested but all failed.

Hi @GurudasP,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 525 is showing an error where both printheads are not working or not detected, even though the scanner is functioning properly. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check for Residual Ink on the Printhead Connectors

Power off the printer and unplug it.

Open the access door and carefully remove both printheads.

Using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water, gently clean the gold electrical contacts on both the printheads and the carriage inside the printer.

Allow all parts to dry completely before reinserting. Moisture or ink residue can block proper contact and trigger this error.

Inspect for Physical Damage

Look closely at the electrical contacts (gold pads) on the printheads and the carriage.

If any pins appear bent, missing, or damaged, the printer will not be able to detect the printheads.

Reinstall the Printheads

Once everything is dry, insert the black printhead into the right slot and the tri-color printhead into the left slot until they click firmly into place.

Close the access door securely. Improper seating can cause detection failure.

Reset the Printer

With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.

Wait 60 seconds, then reconnect and power it back on.

This helps clear temporary communication or initialization errors.

Check the Ink Supply Lines

Make sure the ink tanks are adequately filled and that the ink flow tubes are not blocked or filled with air bubbles.

If you see any gaps in the ink tubes, run the “Clean Printhead” or “Printhead Alignment” function from the printer control panel once the error clears.

I hope this helps.
