I  bought a Smart Tank 6001 and it wasn’t working properly, I talked to HP Support and got it replaced under my warranty. I just received the new one they sent as a replacement. I removed all the packaging and plugged it in, all the lights are flashing. When I press the power button, a few of the lights turn on for a second, then they all shut off and the power button flashes by itself. a few seconds later all the lights start flashing again, rinse and repeat. I've tried it on different outlets, I've left it unplugged for a few minutes, same thing.

Try these steps:

Check Power Connection:

  • Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet.
  • Consider trying a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the electrical socket.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer without turning it off first.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the power outlet.
  • Press the power button to turn on the printer.

Inspect for Obstructions:

  • Check for any protective materials (like cardboard or plastic pieces) that may have been left inside the printer during unpacking.
  • Ensure that all ink tanks are properly closed.

Check Ink System:

  • Make sure the ink tanks are filled and inserted properly according to the setup instructions.

Update Firmware:

  • If the printer eventually turns on, check for any firmware updates using the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

We have a HP 6001 that is only 15 months old and now out of warranty. Found it powered off and wouldn't power back up using the power button. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and notice the lights flashing briefly, then turning off. I wiggled the power cord a little bit and noticed the plug socket was a bit loose and the lights would turn on and off. The printer has been a bit finicky since day 1. We have been extremely careful with the printer and have never pulled on the power cord, so I would guess this is a defective component. I unplugged it again and waited at least 60 seconds, plugged it back in and pressed the power button and it started up. I have made sure there is no tension on the cord at all, and hopefully this will take care of it at least for the short term. Disappointed with the build quality, and you're out of luck if you want a repair after warranty.

Try these steps:

Check the Power Connection: Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet. If the socket feels loose, it might be worth trying a different power outlet or using a different power cord if available.

Inspect for Physical Damage: Examine the power connection on the printer for any visible damage. If the socket is physically loose, it could be an issue with the internal power connection.

Reset the Printer: Try performing a power reset by unplugging the printer for a few minutes and then plugging it back in.

Power Supply Issues: If the printer’s lights flash briefly when connected, it may indicate a power supply problem. Ensure that the power supply is not damaged and is compatible with your printer model.

I hope this helps.
