Can you manually pull the carriage from side to side with your hand when the power is turned off? This keeps pointing to jam but it is clearly not paper jammed in there so is it the carriage itself that is stuck? If you CAN move the carriage freely with your hand, take out the ink, close the door and do your hard reset one more time, put the cartridges back in firmly and press the resume button to see if this clears the blinking lights.

I tried exactly the same steps recommended in the most recent reply. After this I tried the same resets in the same order, timing, & with the start & completion of the timing. After this I tried printing with no result.

 

Every time when I try to print, in the status box, it first records the status as printing, then deleting, then there is no printing job on the printing queue. All through out this time period, there is no noise or movement of the printer cartridge.

Can you please click here run this diagnostic and let me know exactly what it says. I read back over all of the posts from start to finish and I'm wondering how we missed running this first. This tool will do a "systems check" from the printer connection to communications from the computer and if it can fix it it will.

To clarify the noise of the printer cartridge that I mentioned earlier, it is obvious that the cartridge is not moving & the noise is caused by something else.

 

In the previous link, the blinking light message indicated that it most likely was because of a paper jam but the paper comes out very easily. I went through every other step in the instructions, then I carried out the exact resets I mentioned previously, without a solution.

 

Even when all firewalls are turned off & after I did the resets exactly as I mentioned previously, & then tried to print, nothing was resolved.

I have noticed various troubleshooting steps you have tried for this issue.

 

Could you please try HP's Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know if this resolves your issue and if it gives you any other errors?

For HP Scan & Doctor, all ticks are green. The test print  did not produce any result.

 

To clarify what I said about the noise, it sounds like it is coming from the location where the blinking lights are & I can only hear it when the printer get's powered on. There is no noise or  movement of the printer cartridge when I try to print.

 

I tried the uninstall & reinstall the software, & I was directed to do this through control panel, & at control panel I was told that I do not have access & was told to browse through it.

 

When I tried leaving a print job in a print log, with the printer still having everything connected & powered on, I restarted the computer, then the print job was automatically cancelled, I tried to print after that again even with those 2 types of resets I mentioned earlier, & nothing was resolved.

all you gave so far is general addvices,

non of you gave the real answer to the problem,

first of all the problem is: "dust in the sensors", the printer thinks there is a paper jam beacuse the ir sensers are blocked by dust,

here is how to fix:

 

first disconnect the power,

 

then look at picture:

1-open the ink cover, pull one side of it and remove it,

2-unbolt the two T10 screws

3- hold the left side of printer with one hand and with the other hold wher the arrow is drawn pull up (it takes some force) this will allow you to open the roght side, do the same for the left side

now pull alittle up where the arrows are marked then pull and remove the cover

use a brush to clean the dust in the red marked places and then blow some air (with the mouth), doing so you removed the dust from the sensors.

 

now reinstall everything to its original  stat,

 

connect the power cable,

 

you now have a working printer!

Orange led light is blinking, preventing the printer to print.  Check all rollers, paper jams, used compressed gas to remove any dust and lint, replaced ink cartridges and nothing seems to help the printer to print.  Also unplugged all appropriate cables/wires, etc.  Any further suggestions?

After years I am having exactly the same problem with my HP Deskjet 845c series printer. Power on and orange lights keep blinking. A grinding sound when I turn on my printer. But everytime I turn printer on the print cartridges move roughtly an inch towards left side.

I read the whole thread, but no one has explained what that sound was.

Actually in 845c the cartridge carrier or cartridge cleaning assembly is fitted (where u saw a pool of dried ink), it has a motor that moves the head cleaner to and from. When the cartridge is normally on right side, the cleaners are below it but when the cartridge moves say for printing the cleaner move backwards.

So the motor move cleaner to and fro. What has happened to my printer is that, the cleaner never comes to front, it remains towards back and whenever i turn on printer, the motor tries to further move it back which it cant do, as such thw mechanical parts just slide making the noise.

It feels something goes wrong in cleaning assembly when more n more residual ink accumlatea there.

I tried to clean that assembly but the problem still persists.

If u have resolved ur problem, kindly share ur experience. I will really appreciate. Thank you
