My printer issue "offline" persists despite having followed all the steps recommended in other message threads by other people.
I’ve turned all devices off/on, restarted them, set the default printer, used the print spooler, reinstalled the latest drivers, checked network configuration and IP addresses, ran HP print doctor and HP Smart. None of them helps.
The only thing that brings my printer temporarily back to “ready” is when I ‘remove’ it from my computer (Win11) and re-install it. After some minutes, it goes offline again. Very frustrating and time consuming.
What’s the solution to this, please?

Hi @Ninnananna,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 going offline can be frustrating, especially when you've already followed many troubleshooting steps. Since the problem persists, let's try some advanced troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the issue.
Set a Static IP Address for the Printer
Sometimes, the dynamic IP addresses assigned by your router can cause the printer to go offline intermittently. Setting a static IP address can help stabilize the connection.
- Find the Printer's IP Address:
- Go to the printer's control panel, navigate to Network Settings or Wireless Settings, and find the IP address.
- Set Static IP:
- Open a web browser and type the IP address into the address bar. This will open the printer’s web interface.
- Go to the Network or Networking tab.
- Look for an option like IP Configuration and select Manual or Static.
- Enter the current IP address and save the changes.
Disable SNMP in Printer Properties
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) can sometimes interfere with printer connectivity in Windows.
- Open the Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 and choose Printer Properties.
- Go to the Ports tab and click on Configure Port.
- Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled and click OK.
Check Printer Power Settings
Ensure that your printer is not entering a deep sleep mode, which can cause it to lose its network connection.
- Go to your printer’s control panel.
- Navigate to Settings > Power Management and adjust the sleep mode or turn it off if possible.
Ensure Router is Set for 2.4 GHz
Many HP printers, including the OfficeJet Pro 9010, work better on the 2.4 GHz band of Wi-Fi rather than 5 GHz.
- Check your router settings and make sure the printer is connected to the 2.4 GHz band.
Use HP Smart App for Continuous Monitoring
The HP Smart app offers continuous monitoring of printer status and may help with real-time reconnections when the printer goes offline.
- If you haven't already, download and install the HP Smart app.
- Add your printer again and see if this provides better stability.

Update Printer Firmware
Outdated printer firmware can sometimes cause connection issues.
- Go to the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your OfficeJet Pro 9010.
Disable IPv6 on Printer
IPv6 can sometimes cause network confusion for older devices.
- Access your printer’s web interface (using its IP address in a web browser).
- Go to the Network settings and disable IPv6.
After applying these steps, monitor your printer's connection. If the problem persists, you might want to check your router logs for any connectivity drops or conflicts, or try using a USB connection as a temporary workaround until a permanent fix is found.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi HP employee,
Thanks for your reply - unfortunately I'm stuck in the first step that you advised:
When I type the IP address of my HP OfficeJet (a 12-digit number) to a browser's address bar, it only brings up a list of search results for MAC addresses/vendors (I'm not a MAC user).
How do I bring up the printer’s web interface on a web browser, please?
Thanks.

Hi @Ninnananna,
Thank you for your response,
To access your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010's web interface through a browser, follow these steps.
Obtain the correct IP address of your printer:
- On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Network Settings or Wireless Settings.
- Look for Network Information or View IP Address to find the IP address (should look like "192.168.x.x" or similar).
Enter the IP address in a browser:
- Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network as your printer (WiFi or Ethernet).
- In the address bar (not the search bar), type the IP address exactly as shown on the printer (e.g., http://192.168.x.x) and press Enter.
- Avoid typing it into the search engine box, as that will result in search results.
Access the Web Interface:
- If the correct IP address is used, you should now see the printer's web page, which allows you to configure settings, check printer status, etc.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
