I uninstalled and re-installed the HP4655 printer software. I cannot print a document over the wireless network. The HP printer dialogue box says the document is in queue but does not print. I am able to print using the airprint feature from my iphone. Also I clicked on the eprint icon on the printer and it printed out that the printer is web-connected. Any ideas???

What program are you using to print pdf files? I have seen some issues in printing from third party pdf programs. If you are not using Adobe Reader DC. I would suggest downloading it and give that a try, it has resolved printing issues for many. Adobe Reader DC is free, you can download it from Adobe here.
One other possibility - is your printer printing color properly? If the pdf file is being sent to the printer as graphics the printer may use color rather than black. If your color is not printing (perhaps due to empty color cartridge) you could change the driver settings for "use black only". The troubleshooting steps in the document here may also help.

Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue. Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Bob, I downloaded and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. I successfully ran and printed the test page. When I tried to print my document (an Adobe Acrobat document), it does not show up in the printer dialog box as in queue. It did not print.
I tried a Word document and the printer dialog box shows it "printing" and it did print.
Why would a Word document print but not an Adobe .pdf file?
Thank you.

Bob, I downloaded the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader DC from Adobe. That's when my print problems started. I use to be able to print Adobe Acrobat documents with no problem. Then the Reader disappeared from my Programs and I had to re-install Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. I have uninstalled and re-installed the Reader DC and it still won't print. I am tearing out my hair 😞
Thanks for any help.

Hmm... I am downloading the latest version. It will take a while on my slow DSL line but I will let you know if I find anything.
In the meantime, is color working on your printer? If not please remove the color cartridge (forcing black-only mode) and see if it now prints.

OK, I uninstalled Acrobat Reader DC and downloaded and installed the latest version, 18.011.20040 on my Windows 10 x64 system. I opened a pdf file and it printed fine on my Officejet Pro 8600.
I have a few questions that may help get to the cause of this:
- When you go to File, Print in Adobe DC is the correct printer selected? Check in COntrol Panel, Devices and printers - are there multiple copies of the printer?
- Does the page show properly in the preview window in Reader DC?

Bob, I doublechecked and I have the same Adobe version 18.011.20040.
In the Control Panel, Devices and printers, there are two references to the HP printer:
1) Fax - HP OfficeJet 4650 series
2) HPAE34ES (HP OfficeJet 4650 series) (copy 1)
When I am in Adobe Acrobat and do a File Print, The preview window shows the HPAE34ES (HP Office Jet 4650 series) (copy 1) in the name for printer and the document shows up in the preview window
The major difference now is that when I send the Adobe document to the printer, the Control Panel dialog box which shows up when I click see what's printing does NOT show the document in the queue. It is as if the document I sent to the printer vanished into the ether. This morning, the document would show up in the dialog box as being in the queue even though it does not print out.
Do I need to uninstall the HP printer software and re-install again?
Thank you.

There is a firmware update from December 2017 for the Officejet 4655 that addresses some wifi connectivity among other issues. You might check and make sure you have the latest version, available here.
I am downloading the Officejet 4655 driver now, I will install it on my (compatible) 8600 and see if I can duplicate your issue. Looks like it will be a half hour or so.
