I have created an A5 booklet of 16 page on landscape A4 but cannot get it to print the pages correctly, they are either in the wrong order or printed in the centre of single A4 sheets

Hi @Tarthur2307,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
I understand you are having issues printing on your HP Printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Did you try to install the full feature software?
Have you tried to create custom size and check if that helps.
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Click the Advanced tab in printing Preferences.
- Expand the Document Options entry.
- Expand the Layout Options entry.
- In the Page Order: drop down menu, select Back to Front.
- Click OK.
HP considers reversing the print order to be an advanced setting.

Take care.

Hi I have not made any changes as far as I am aware and I have tried to install the full feature software. I have done as you suggest but no change, my advanced document settings menu does not match yours as shown in your reply. I have a screenshot of the menu which I can send to you if it helps. Thanks for trying but still no joy

Hi @Tarthur2307,
As I understand you have followed the instructions provided and still having the issue. Don't worry as I have a few other steps which should help you resolve this issue.
Let's try these steps here:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13 ). Restart the PC
14 ). Now click on this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61235/mp-147821-1/EN5540_Full_WebPack_1119.exe and install the updated drivers
15 ). Connect the USB cable only when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
If the issue still persists, then try installing the printer using the Windows built in drivers.
Go to the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879 and follow the "Step 3" to install the printer using the built-in drivers.

Many thanks for that, the printer is now printing A4 properly and centred as it should be, however I think I may be using the wrong settings for printing an A5 two page spread on A4 paper. Every time I try to print, on both sides (16 pages on 8 A4 sheets) I just get A4 portrait sheets with the image in the centre. Could you advise on the settings I should use please?
