I am having issues with horizontal banding in any area that uses the Cyan cartridge.  I have replaced ALL of the cartridges, ran the cleaning and alignment processes multiple times, which has used a lot of ink, and it has not corrected the issue.  I contacted HP and they told me that the print head was probably bad and I would need to purchase a new printer.  I've only had this printer less than 2 years, but it is out of warranty.  How can I fix this issue or am I just going to need a new printer?  I had my last HP for over 8 years and was very happy with it, surely the quality hasn't gone down so much that they only last 18 months now.  This is a home printer so it is not used daily, sometimes not even weekly.  Thank you!  I'm attaching an image of what is going on with the printing.HP Issue 9-14-2020.jpg

What model printer are you using?

I see that you have tried all the necessary troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

As you have already replaced the ink cartridges and the same issue persists, yes the HP technician was correct. This looks like an issue with the printhead/printer.

 

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

My Printer is an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978.  I understand the response, but my issue is that a printer should last longer than 2 years for what we have to pay for it and the cost of ink.  I would like to continue using my printer.  Thank you!

I understand your concern. However, this seems like an hardware issue. The only option is to replace the printer if the printer is under warranty. HP cannot replace the printer if out of warranty. The printhead would have gone bad which is non-removable on this model printer.

Thank you.   But now it is not printing Cyan at all and it's a brand new cartridge.  I will probably not buy another HP printer if this the quality I can expect now.
