I had to do a wifi parameter reset to get the signal back. Now it says it is unprotected, and Signal Identifier is "HP-Setup>32-Deskjet3630 Series". How do I reset the security parameters and get back a reasonable Signal Identifier?

The User Guide explains the different kind of Wireless connections and how to connect / use that method.

Operating System not provided
If Wireless Direct is enabled but not secured, it can produce a similar message to the one you see.
If you have a router, disable Wireless Direct and connect the printer to your router / network.

I would really like to get into the embedded web server. However, the printer is stand alone. I print to it by selecting the web signal and connecting. Then the queued documents in the printer device flow to the printer.
Dragon-Fur,
I cleared the web parameters by holding down the signal button and the X button simultaneously until the power button started blinking and then powered off and then on. Is there a similar sequence to get to the reset parameters sequence?
I did look through all that stuff you listed, but they are all so general I can't see how to find a path to the specific. The board may have set me up as a student, but I am really pushing 80 and haven't waded though that kind of official, cover one derrière verbiage in a long, long time. I am looking for the specific actions to solve my problem.

Understood. I have removed the verbiage from my previous post. It was certainly not an effort to cover anything. I see that my intention aside, the answer was not satisfactory.
I believe I do not correctly understand the context of what kind of connection you are using (Wireless Direct - no router, Standard Wireless - with Router / routed network).
I believe I do not understand some of the terms you are using - this is likely my own fault.
I offer my apologies for having wasted your time.

Dragon-Fur,
I guess that my connection is a "Wireless Direct - no router". I turn on the printer and make sure it is putting out a wireless signal, pressing that button if necessary. On my desktop, I switch from my Ethernet network adapter to my wireless network adapter, find the printer signal , connect to it, and any pages I have queued to the HP printer device start printing. The same procedure is used on the laptop computer. So printing works now as is, but I was warned that others could see what I printed. Consequently I want to reset those parameters like WAP2, and the name the printer WIFI presents for an ID, etc.
On my desktop, Microsoft deleted my existing HP Printer device (or hid it) so I can't print from the desktop. I can install a new HP-Printer device from the HP DeskJet 3630 All-in-one series. but I can't run a cable to the printer to do the setup from here. Which is why I am looking for a "poke this button and press that button " solution.

I believe because you have a standard network that includes a router (for example, your computer is connected via Ethernet to network) that you can use the network to connect your printer to that network. Once the printer is connected wireless, you should be able to switch on the Wireless on the computer (without removing the Ethernet cable) and use the Wireless connection to print from the computer to the printer.
Disclaimer
Honestly, I do not know whether any of what I can suggest will work - I have never used a printer without a printer control panel; the connection / setup / requirements are very much different (and more primitive) than anything I have used.
If nothing helps, if the advice confuses you, upsets you, or just sounds useless in context, do not give up. Instead, please consider starting a new thread and asking the question again. We have a number of experienced Experts here and someone else may be able to help. I promise not to respond to any new inquiries. Smiling.

I have found this Thread that includes a video on how to set up the printer on the network using the WPS method (which you know and have tried / used). The method makes sense in context of your printer model (no printer control screen).. The method does not include any password, WPA, or anything else that you could normally set on a standard wireless network using a printer with a printer control screen.
Re-setup or reconfigure Wireless for HP Wireless printers
I apologise (again) for wasting your time.
I do not have the answer you seek.
I am almost as unhappy about this as are you. 😒

To use a standard wireless connection to the network, you will not use Wireless Direct.
➡️ Switch off Wireless Direct on the Printer
The switch on/off for Wireless Direct is a toggle so it is a one button click of the button to switch on the service and another click of the same button to switch off Wireless Direct.
Open the guide and look at Page 8
Image example of the information on that page:
➡️ Switch on the Wireless Service on the printer
The Wireless button switches on the standard Wireless connection.
Reminder: The Wireless button is NOT the Wireless Direct button.
The Wireless button is a toggle switch: click to switch the Wireless on - another click on the same button to switch off the service.
Open the guide read the information on Page 73
If, as the documentation says, you have previously installed the printer software, you can reconfigure the wireless settings on the printer screen.
- Switch on the Wireless service on the printer
- If necessary (printer won't connect, other weird issues), use the instructions on Page 73 to "Restore network defaults" - Wait a couple of seconds - Switch on Wireless service
- Look for the Blue light in the steady "ON" condition
- Print a Wireless Network test report
- If you have yet not done so, switch on the Wireless Service on your computer. Remember that both Ethernet and Wireless can be active at the same time - do not disconnect your Ethernet cable from the computer.
- Printers without the advantage of a Printer Control Panel that allows you to enter information at the printer, can use the WPS method described on page 66
- If the printer software is already installed, you can perhaps use the "Connect a Printer" instructions on page 67
Here is where you might be able to finally get into the Embedded Web Server (EWS) so you can view / configure your printer using your computer and regular keyboard - easier on the fingers and the eyes, too.
If the printer is now connected to your wireless network and if the wireless network report has given you the IP address of the printer, use that information to open the EWS connection to the printer.
If you wanted to configure the Wireless setup, for example:
You will need to know the following information.
This is true whether you are using the printer control panel to enter the information or if you are able to use EWS.
SSID - the name of your network. You get this information from your router. The name might be something you decided, or it might be a weird "network" name decided by the router (like NextSys-R2900).
WPA2 (or similar) - This is your Network Security type; almost every network uses (can use) WPA security.
AES (or similar, for example, might be AES/TKIP) - This is your Network encryption type.
WPA passphrase (password) - This is the password used to connect to your regular wireless network. You get this information from the router.
Reminder: The password is NOT the password to the router itself, the password is used by your devices (printer, phones, iPads, for example) to connect to the Wireless network created on and broadcast by the router.
Help to find the Password:
Example - Open EWS
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > Advanced
Note: Your EWS connection, options, and setups may look different from the example. Hopefully, the setup will be similar enough that you can extrapolate what you need to do.
Visual Example: HP Officejet Pro 8630 - EWS - Network > Wireless (802.11) > Advanced
HP_8630_EWS_Network_1C
When you click "Apply", expect the connection to break.
Wait a minute or so, and start a new EWS session (open a new webpage connection to the printer).
============================================================================
If all else fails, and you want to use the standard wireless network instead of Wireless Direct, you may end up having to haul that printer closer to the computer and temporarily connecting the printer to the computer using a USB cable - this might be necessary, for example, if you need to reinstall the printer software and you cannot do so because, well, the printer is not on the network -- or it is on the network but won't allow you to install the printer software using that wireless connection.
There are several videos you can watch to help you install the printer software (should it become necessary for any reason).
There is a video on your printer's Software and Drivers website:
For example:
Open the web page,
Scroll to the bottom of the page to Related Videos
Select How to Connect a Wireless Printer using a Full Feature Driver in Windows.

There are more videos and How-to help of all sorts in the HP Gallery.
