I've been trying to print on Avery business cards and I've ruined several sheets of cards. The ruined sheets have printed too soon and therefore cutting off the top line of the business cards. Sometimes it prints the cards perfectly on one sheet, but the next sheet it's way off. I don't understand. And I don't understand why there's no "business card" paper type to select. What do I select to print out sheets of cards successfully? Do I select INDEX CARD LETTER 8.5 x 11 inches? Or do I need to try and create a custom paper style if that's even possible? If so, how? I can't afford to buy more 10 pack sheets of business cards only to be able to print out 5 sheets successfully, or buy tons of ink. I don't have never-ending money.
The business cards I'm trying to print on are called Avery Business Cards - Matte 10 sheet (product 28371) and each card is 2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I understand that you are unable to print on Avery Business Cards which are of 2 X 3 1/2 inches
I'd like to help.
To avoid paper jams and other issues, make sure you are using the correct type and size of index cards or card stock when loading the input tray.
As per the printer Specifications , your printer only supports the following cards and dimensions

Keep me posted if you need further assistance.
Thank you 🙂

These are business cards im trying to print on: https://www.avery.com/products/cards/8371
THERE ARE NO PAPER JAMS!
The PROBLEM is the printing. The printer is printer above the card (too soon), therefore my cards are MISSING words at the top I need to be on the card. Does this make any sense. The printer is PRINTING my font and design incorrectly and NOT on each and every business card. If this printer can't print out simple business cards then I definitely bought the WRONG printer for my needs. I bought it months ago last Fall. I wish I had known there is no cardstock business card printing feature on this printer machine.
So, is it NOT POSSIBLE to print out business cards CORRECTLY? What do I select in order to print out a sheet of 10 business cards?????? I do not know.

Unfortunately even if we perform a Custom Size Printing, it might not print consistently since the Business Card size does not match the printer specifications. But you can give it a try
You can create a custom paper size using the Print option on the File menu of your application, and then select the new custom size for the print job.
Video of creating custom paper sizes for printing from the Print menu in Mac OS
-
Load the custom-size paper into the paper input tray.
-
Open the item you want to print.
-
Click File, and then select Print.
-
In Paper Size, select Manage Custom Sizes.
The Custom Paper Sizes window displays.
-
In the Custom Paper Sizes window, click the plus sign
to create a new paper size, double-click the default untitled name, and then type a new name for the custom paper size.
NOTE: Use a different, unique name for the new custom paper size. Do not use an existing paper size name for any new custom paper size names because it overrides the existing preset. For example, if a custom paper size is named A4, then the existing A4 paper size is no longer available as a choice.
-
In the Paper Size section, type the dimensions of the custom paper in the Width and Height text boxes, and then set the margins, if desired.
-

-
-
Click OK.
-
In the print preview window, select the new custom paper size.
-
Change print settings, if desired, and then click OK or Print to print the document.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks 🙂

@PinkRoseC, have you tried the folowing settings?
Also check the weight of the Avery cards, the 4524 can only print up to 200 g/m2 (110 lb index)

I'm still not having any luck.
The Avery cards on a sheet that is 8.5 inches by 11 inches, are apparently 230 g/m2 in weight. So, that would affect the printing? I made the business card template from Avery's website. The sheet of cards come out all wrong, not aligned within the cards at all, and I have to toss out the ones I TRIED to print out. This is ridiculous! I bought the WRONG printer for my needs and I'm STUCK with it. Just lovely.

According to the specs of my HP printer:
Media weights by paper path:
A4: 64 to 90 g/m²; HP envelopes: 75 to 90 g/m²; HP cards: up to 200 g/m²; HP 10 x 15 cm photo paper: up to 250 g/m²
So, does HP sell cards that are 200 g/m²? What does 200 g/m² even mean? Is that the weight per page of cards?

GSM or g/m2 simply mean 'grams per square metre'.
This relates to the weight of the paper and manufacturers will state the maximum weights their printers will accept.
The problem with consumer front load printers is the paper path.
