I have the same problem.  I have turned the printer off countless times.  When I open the compartment to the cartridges, the carrier does not automatically slide back to center.  I cannot reach the print cartridges without damaging the carrier.  What do I do at this point?

@jfishy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

I understand you are receiving a "71.02.4A" error on the printer screen.

We can perform a factory default on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

HP OfficeJet PRO 8022, i get code 71.02.4A. Ihave done the following:
orderd all new original ink. since the tray does not come forward i had to shut down power middle of startup process to get the tray unlocked and swipe it left to access it.
I have cleaned the heads / contacts. I have cleaned under where the tray normally rests (there was alot of ink down there)
I did a factory reset using the terminal on the machine. I have checked for pieces or traces of paper debris, used cannes air to blow all over the place.
But no reult.
I have read up on this thread and re-accouring is an offer for some kind of reset code. I would very much like to gain access to the very same.
Thank You for your time.

Regards.

Sweden.

While powered down reach in and unsnap all the ink cartridges. leave unsnapped and power up. you will get  something different now instead of the event code 71.02.4A this time.  Pop the ink cartridges back back down and print the test page and you should be back in business.

Don't push the carrier just reach in with a finger to the front of each cartridge to unsnap. leave unsnapped and power up. you will get  something different now instead of the event code 71.02.4A this time.  Pop the ink cartridges back back down and print the test page and you should be back in business.
