Hi @Rorygirl4528,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering issues with your HP Envy Pro 6400 printer and receiving error messages like "Failed to Contact Printer" or experiencing problems with supply levels, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. Verify the Wi-Fi connection on the printer's control panel.

Restart the Printer:

  • Power off the printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can help reset the printer and establish a new connection.

Restart the Computer:

  • Restart your computer to refresh its connection with the printer.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your HP Envy Pro 6400 printer. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Check Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer and cancel any pending print jobs. Sometimes, a stuck print job can interfere with communication.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the printer drivers on your computer and reinstall them. You can download the latest drivers from the HP official website.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure that there are no conflicting applications or security software that might be blocking communication with the printer.

Reset Printer Network Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings and perform a network reset. After the reset, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Check Supply Levels:

  • If the printer is showing issues with supply levels, ensure that the ink or toner cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink or toner.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
