HP OfficeJet 4652
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been having a serious problem trying to get my 4652 installed and operating with both Black and color.  I have had black but no color.  I do NOT have a fax telephone line in my home so maybe that is messing me up.  I tried troubleshooting but got no help.  I tried all of the HP support instructions and the final one was that I should uninstall the software and reinstall it. I followed the uninstall instruction several times and tried to reinstall.   I went to "HP print and scan doctor" and it now says I hve my 4652 installed 3 time but if I go to the control panel it shows only one.  I am totally confused and don't know what to do short of throwing it in the trash and buying a canon.  Would appreciate any advice

Hi,

Try following below specific version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Be sure to restart your PC and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.

For the fax line query, what purpose are you trying to achieve?

The device must be connected to a phone line for faxing from the device itself, however, you may also use HP Mobile Fax from the HP Smart app to fax from your computer, regardless of the HP device configuration:

ShlomiL,

YOU are AMAZING!!!

It worked and now when I open the printer preference and click on Paper/Quality the bottom half of the page now shows COLOR !!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you

As for the fax question, I have no desire or intent to use it for faxing.  I just don't know how I can get rid or disable that function.  I just don't want to mess up anything else on the D__ printer/scanner/copier

You're much welcome @RBMOHIO, great to see you are now able to print in color again!

Regarding the fax feature, you may simply ignore the feature, or you may also disable it as follows:

  • Tap the Wireless icon on your printer and locate its IP address.
  • From your PC, open any web browser and browse to the printer IP Address.
  • Click the Settings tab.
  • ClickSecurity and then Administrator Settings.
  • From this screen, you should be able to disable the fax feature.
