HP Deskjet 2620
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

My macbook pro is connected via a USB port but the printer will only print in Black and White. If you scan something it prints in colour, and if you print any of instructions off it prints in colour.

The printer has a full colour cartridge. In the print pop up on my computer all as it should [ie it not saying to print in BW] I have looked at all the settings for print and they look as they always do so i can't work out why it wont print colour.

 Hi Kumar

I tried the options you gave, none of them worked unfortunately,  I also upgraded my OS from el Capitan to Sierra.

Any other thoughts otherwise I will take it back to Currys

Thanks

Thank you for the response. Did you try printing different types of documents and check if the issue persists?

Create a new user account and check if you are able to print in color

Refer to this document to know how.

If the issue persists, reinstall the printer using AirPrint driver

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Keep me posted.
