I had the DeskJet 3630 and just replaced the color and black ink cartridges. They are compatible and I think I did everything correctly, snapped right into place and I took off the tape on the cartridges prior. However, I'm trying to print to it, and not working. The Ink Alert light is still blinking. Also, when I replaced with the new cartridges, I never to that test page that is supposed to print w/in 30 seconds. Any suggestions?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Follow these steps to determine which cartridge is causing the problem, and then inspect and clean the cartridge.

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If the issue persists, follow the next steps.

  1. Open the cover on the product.

  2. Remove either cartridge (not both).

  3. Close the cover on the product.

    • If the 'Print Cartridge Error,' message still displays on the computer, then the cartridge that remained in the product is the problem cartridge.

    • If the 'Print Cartridge Error' message does not display, but instead the message 'Either missing, not detected or incorrectly installed,' displays, then the cartridge you removed is the problem cartridge.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
