I haven't used this printer in a while, so I cancelled my instant ink subscription.
I need to use it now, so I went online and got subscribed again.
But now, it's stuck saying that I cannot use this cartridges until enroll in instant ink, and I cannot get off this screen.. meaning I cannot go to network settings and set it up, and the HP app on the desktop cannot recognise it properly, so I cannot configure anything through that.
So the question is: how do I get off this "cartriged cannot be used" screen so I can access the network settings and connect to the WiFi?

OK - You are now re-enrolled in Instant Ink.
That changes things, though not in any way that will let the printer ignore the ink error.
Once locked, the original cartridges, that is, those that were part of the service before you cancelled, cannot be "unlocked".
Said another way:
Regardless of how it comes about, once locked, Instant Ink cartridges do not unlock.
The printer cannot proceed until the error(s) are corrected.
If you had not used the printer since last year, even if you were not enrolled, cancelled, and re-enrolled, the old cartridges would likely need to be replaced simply because they dried up.
True - Having re-enrolled, now you need new Instant Ink cartridges.

Welcome to the HP English Community --
The ink cartridge error message cannot be cleared until you have removed all the Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges from the printer and replaced them with a new set of HP ink.
What?
When the printer is switched on, the initial self-checks include whether the printer is ready to print. Because subscription cartridges only work with an active (and current) subscription to Instant Ink, the printer cannot move beyond this check until the cartridges pass the "ready to print" checks.
If, after you have replaced the subscription cartridges with a new set of HP ink, the printer balks at the cartridge check, perhaps issue a printer Reset to help the printer run through its self-checks again. Reference: HP printer does not turn on > Section Internal power supply > Topic Recycle power to the printer
What else?
If still fails to start correctly after the cartridges are changed and the power reset has been tried, then perhaps contact Instant Ink Support to make sure your account is closed.

Hi, thank you for the warm welcome
So the solution you are proposing is:
Go out to buy 2 new cartridges of ink, so I can used them to actually set up my printer, so that I can use my 2 cartridge that I am paying a subscription for?
10-24-2024 09:24 AM
You are welcome.
The solution is based on your earlier statement that you cancelled the subscription.
Assuming that is indeed the case, then yes -
You must replace the subscription cartridges with a set of purchased cartridges.
What?
The Instant Ink service is a Print-by-Page model.
Ink is included during the time the service contract is active.
HP retains ownership of Instant Ink cartridges - this includes ink cartridges activated as part of the contract and all Instant Ink / subscription cartridges sent to you as part of the service.

hi, thank you for the quick reply.
I did cancel the subscription, last year.
However, I did enroll back and because it cannot connect to my printer, it will not allow me to use them. That is why I need to configure the printer on my network so it can connect properly, and I could print.
Not having access to the settings on the printer, I cannot even see the WPS pin, to connect it through Bluetooth.
Even without cartridges inserted, it will not let me go into the settings, all I want is to access the settings.
