Thanks for the potential help in advance. My LaserJet Pro M201dw has started printing on its own while powered. The pages are essentially the same as follows;
POST /ipp/printer HTTP/1.1
Content-Length: 179
Content-Type: application/ipp
1393Gattributes-charset utf-8Httrubutes-natural-language enEprinter-urilipp:/
The leading four digits in the last line are different for every page printed. There are some embedded characters between several of the words in the last line that I can't recreate with the keyboard.
The problem started last evening with the printer continually printing the above on a single page until the paper supply is exhausted. I've power down the printer several times and it comes back after being initialized and restarts printing the same as above.
Advice on how to clear this issue would be much appreciated. Gerry

I would go into the embedded web server and disable ipp printing protocol. Check what type of driver is being used for printing. Also do not discount the fact that the jobs may be coming from the internet and are generated by someone else.

Thanks Repairatrooper,
Could you kindly advise how to access the embedded web server to disable the ipp printing protocol?
I've turned off wireless access as I'm hardwired via cable to the USB on laptop. My wife uses wireless access. That did not resolve the issue and restarting the printer.
Again thanks in advance for the help. Gerry

It's not just you. I have the same printer with almost the exact same error. My Content-Length is 177, I have a HOST: localhost, and the start of the last line where you have 1393 I have 5400. Mine started about a week ago.
Under Networking, Advanced, I unchecked IPP Printing, but that did not resolve the issue. I also did a restore all network settings to their factory default values, which did not resolve the issue.
I keep the paper tray empty now after burning through a couple of hundred sheets. If I need to print, I press the X button on the printer, the display shows cancelling job, then I power the printer off then on. I am then able to print. Within 24 hours, the issue happens again.

I have the same issue. Mine is a Laser Jet M182 but identical problem. It started out of the blue. Since it started I have found that disconnecting the usb cable stops the problem (i can leave wireless on). I even upgraded the direct connect computer to Windows 11 and it still continues. I uninstalled the old driver and am working on installing the new driver, but I cannot get the driver installed without plugging in the cable, at which time the problem starts again in short time.
Any update on a solution?

I had three Windows Updates on 15th/16th. KB5022497, KB5026372, KB5023706. All were uninstalled but sadly, the issue remains after powering down M201dw.
I'm to the point of junking this printer and moving to another brand.

Hi @Gerry_GFRC,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an issue with your LaserJet Pro M201dw gone rogue. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
Update the printer firmware

Hi Gaya1239
I've followed your instructions exactly including downloading the drivers with install. Once the printer started, it immediately started printing the same lines as first published in this message board. A test page was printed followed by the printer going rogue and printing two quick rogue pages and then pausing for about 30 seconds and reprinting the same rogue pages but with four different numerical characters on this "attributes" line for each page.
If this problem is not resolved by Monday noon, I have no choice but to go out and purchase another brand as operate a small business and have a pile of USPS shipping on Tuesday morning. What a pity. Gerry
