I threw mine away and bought a Brother printer.  I couldn't get it off that firmware update that got pushed. I will never purchase HP again in my life now nor say anything positive about the brand.

yup, my printer is still a brick. I wish I could factory reset it and turn off firmware updates, but they now prevent you from turning off automatic updates!
