Hi@Taffy49,

Thanks for using the HP Forums. One Stop for all sort of solutions for your HP Products

I have read your post and understand that you need assistance in printing.

This seems to be an issue with the Microsoft Office software.

However, I request you to check for the Print preview while executing the print command to check if the preview has missing lines.

What is indicated in the preview will be printed on the printer. That’s our first step.

Alternate to it is to reinstall the Microsoft Office product and check if that helps.

Also, try printing some paragraph using notepad and check if the issue persists.

This should help you with your query.  Let me know for more solution.

Hi The Fossette,

I am afraid that your suggestions have not solved my problem. I have been unable to find the maintenance processes you suggest. I think that something has happened to my printer software. Although I can do limited printing I can no longer scan as the short cut on my desktop that I previously used to access the scan facility now warns me of script errors and the HP Printer Assistant just goes on and on loading.  I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the software from the disk that came with my printer but to no avail.  My computer is not new and operates on Windows Vista Home Premium. My Windows Office version is 2003. However everything worked ok until about 10 days ago in terms of printing.  Can I start from scratch and uninstall the software and then download it straight from the HP website.  If so can someone give me the link.  Thanks for all suggestions in advance.

Hi there,

I'm making some progress and have cracked the problem of the missing lines. However I think a contributory factor seems to be the black cartridge. I uninstalled and re-installed the software.  This allowed me to carry out the cleaning and re-alignment. However, although analysis of the ink situation confirms genuine cartrdige and sufficient ink nothing is printing in black. I changed the colour of part of an existing word document and the non black printed ok but the black part came out blank.  I also sent myself two test emails with the word Test in red in one and black in another, The red one printed ok although the black header of the email was blank. I have tried cleaning the cartridge as per online advice but to no avail.  I shall just have to buy a new cartidge which as annoying as it is virtually new.

Thank very much for your help

Best wishes
