I have found this question on the forum because my 3 year old printer gave me the same error a month after fitting the first magenta cartridge refill - so I don’t use it much. I’m guessing that the solution is going to be a new printer. For someone who is looking for an ecologically friendly way to dispose of the old cartridge this is an unsatisfactory solution!

 

Of 1241 views on the “Missing or Failed Printhead” error, I guess there must be at least 1000 unhappy HP customers with this problem. Picture the landfill!  Then there must be another 100 models of printer so a conservative, unscientific  estimate puts the landfill volume on this type of premature printer failure at 100,000 X 45 litres over a three year period. (1,200,000 gallons for our friends across the pond) That’s 1.5 million litres (400,000 gal US) a year. 

 

It’s time HP took stock of its environmental impact. Where there’s a will there’s a way.
