When printing photos from laptop (windows) or from iPhones (mine and girlfriends) I awlways have had a massive boarder at the bottom. I’ve tried many settings on phone and laptop. I use the Hp smart app to print and have tried printing from Apple shortcut (share copy print) image.jpg

I wouldn’t mind a small boarder like 3 of the edges but the massive one a the bottom shows badly when framing photos.

A warm welcome to HP Support Community! I'd like to help.

What's the paper type and size?

Does the print preview display the massive border?

Hi. THanks for the reply. I have photo paper sizes 6x4 and 7x5 and it happens with both.

Yea it shows on preview too. Picture attached.

I’ve tried all options that you can see on the pic but I always get a big boarder.

You are welcome! Updating printer firmware and iOS may resolve the issue, most of the new updates will have product enhancements and  issue fixes. You may use the links below to update printer firmware and iOS:

Update printer firmware

Update iOS

Once you update printer firmware and iOS, restart both the devices and then try to print.

Thank you for the help. I’ve updated the printer firmware and have the latest app and iOS but still have the problem.

I checked it on windows 10 laptop and I’m still getting the boarder in printing preview screen.

We could try an automated/manual cleaning, here is how to do it:

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Clean the ink cartridges, refer to step 11 from this document.

5) Plug the power cord back into the printer

6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.

7.) Use the automated tool to clean ink cartridges, refer to step 12 from this document.

Keep me posted!
