I ended up trashing the HP app, then finding “current updates” (maybe not exact phrase) downloaded Essential Software and Easy Start and installing both (Choose the printer, etc.) which took about 10+ minutes. You then become a new user as far as Adobe is concerned. Have to register all over.
Trash the original app.

IronBadger. That popup is now showing up not just while trying to print, but also popping up every few seconds even when I wasn't printing. So I followed the first set of instructions and after the successful installation, got a spinning beachball after hitting "Continue." So I went to your second set of instructions and used HP Easy Start to delete and then reinstall after deletion. Again, after the successful installation page showed, I hit "Continue" and got the spinning beachball again. Letting that run, I opened "Force Quit" I saw that Easy Start was not responding after quite a long wait. Any other instructions, or is this back in Apple's corner again? By the way, I tried to print something just now and got no popup, but the print queue auto stopped the print job every time and hitting the restart button just resulted in the same thing.
All started just this morning, after my upgrade to Catalina 10.15.7. (This Mac is brand new and ONLY had Catalina on it, earlier version, 10.15.5 with no printing problems.) On Apple user support forums this same problem is shown to possibly due to Apple's new malware protection app that came with the update. (MRT update v. 1.68 according to one user forum post). It's evidently seeing certain HP files as malware now.

IronBadger: My second reply. I restarted my Mac and even though Easy Start hung up and had to be force quit after the successful installation showed as successfully completed. All seems to be working now. (Knock on wood.) I printed a page. No popup warning me about anything damaging my computer. So maybe there's a glitch at the tail end of the Easy Start app that tricks you into yet another worrisome little spell. I'm worn out from all of this right after tweaking the new Mac for days.
Thanks for your input here. It really DID work it seems.

I have downloaded Easy Start from the HP website. When I go into downloads and double click on the file I get the message "
The file “HP_Easy_Start.app.zip.download” doesn’t appear to be a valid download file." Have I missed something?

I tried to install without removing. Put in my password, hit install it turned gray and there was no progress. So, I uninstalled as your instructions, went through set up and then put in my password. Same deal, install greyed out and there has been no further prompts. Discouraging. Finding an HP phone number is a lot harder than it used to be.

I am not an HP expert, but try going to 123hp.com. Follow the prompts to set up your printer. It will install the latest driver and an HP Smart app in your Applications folder that you can keep on your dock by right clicking the mouse. This app will tell you your ink levels and tell your HP printer to scan, print, fax and other goodies. I am running an iMAC with Envy 7640 all in one series printer that is several years old but suits my limited printing needs and creates PDF files in lieu of Faxing. Good luck!
