My product is an HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile All-in-one. It just stopped working and won't turn on. The only time it appears to have a power connection is when I plug the USB cord into my laptop. Then the light near the power button flashes as if it is charging, but nothing ever happens after that. It has been months of trying new batteries, new cords, but to no avail. Help!

Hi @Marias2five0

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for your patience—it’s incredibly disheartening when a dependable device like your HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile suddenly won’t power on, especially after trying new batteries and cords.

You’ve already taken thoughtful steps, and I’ll guide you through a focused set of actions that may help bring it back to life.

Steps to Troubleshoot HP OfficeJet 250 Not Powering On

1. Use Only the Original Power Adapter

  • Ensure you're using the original HP AC adapter that came with the printer.
  • Plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or extension cord).
  • If the adapter is third-party or underpowered, the printer may not respond.

2. Perform a Full Power Reset

  • Disconnect the printer from all power sources: remove the battery, unplug the AC adapter, and disconnect USB.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect only the AC adapter (leave the battery and USB disconnected).
  • Try powering on the printer.

3. Remove and Reinsert the Battery

  • Slide out the battery from the rear compartment.
  • Check the contacts for dust or corrosion and gently clean if needed.
  • Reinsert the battery firmly and try powering on with and without the AC adapter.

4. Try USB-Only Power-Up

  • Remove the battery and AC adapter.
  • Connect the printer to your laptop using a USB cable.
  • Wait 30 seconds—if the light near the power button blinks, press the power button once to see if it responds.

5. Check for Firmware Recovery (If Display Responds)

Download the full software package for your operating system and follow the on-screen instructions.

You’ve already done everything right—just a few more steps and you may be able to bring your printer back to working condition.
