Got a new printer today and installed it but it wont print from the phototray. I looked at the forums and when we go into HP7520 series prperties and to  device settings the option to change from Main Tray  A4 is greyed out and it says phototray unavailable but this is also greyed out so cannot change it>>>  Help

Sandymo...what was your solution?  I have been out of town and haven't reinstalled the program as they suggested, was just wondering if that's what you did or something else.

Kudos and appreciation to 8 LIVES. I must give you much appreciation for your post on this problem. I was on a live chat with HP earlier today for a 1/2 hour and they are going to send me a new photo tray.  I knew it was not the photo tray so I removed all of the 7520 software and re installed it carefully, not to miss any steps. The printer would print a test photo from the photo tray, but after finishing the software download I could not get the darn picture to print from the photo tray. It would pull out from the lower tray. I went back to your post and just followed your steps, that I did not pay attention to the first time. You have to make sure to make adjustments to the   PRINTER PREFERENCES  and the  PRINTER  PROPERTIES  or else it won't work. After a day of frustration   I MUST GIVE YOU KUDOS ANS A GOLD STAR.

I myself have not tried it yet from my I phone. . All day on photo tray problem.  ( NOTE )     I have to add I did have a problem getting to print back to the main tray after solving photo tray problem. I usually hit  print preview before I print. Then click on print at far left corner. Then I had to click on print preferences from the drop down, then click on paper quality from that drop down, then pick your tray and paper selection.I had myself had to do this even though I had the settings from mesage #4 from 1ST page. Your process might be different. ( Do the settings from 8 lives post from PG 1 MSG 4 first.) Then you might have to do my settings.   I hope I explained it so everyone can understand. I'm not really computer literate as some of you guys.

I have the same problem, my photos will not print to photo tray, only the main paper tray.  I have made the changes on the printer properties, however on your screen shot of 7250 properties I do NOT have the device settings " form to tray assignment" option on my window.   Now what?  I' m about ready to return this printer and go with another brand.

I tried all this and yes, it picks up the 4 X 6, but even though it runs thru as though it is going to print, it shoots the paper out blank....then I receive a message that says on the printer screen...Paper size in incorrect.  On the PC screen I get a message from HP that says in part....The paper size detected by the printer sensor does not match the paper size selected in software....then it tells you to correct one or both and click on OK to print again....

I'm thinking that how can it not read the correct paper size but it brings it up and shoots it out...it acts at first like it's going to print, but all that comes out is the photo paper 4 x 6 but blank.  I have been trying to figure all this out for almost a year.  I give up most of the time and then come back to it.  I change the software settings and the paper settings in both places, but still nothing....by the way, I'm using the 4 x 6 photo paper that came with the printer, since the only time it worked was during the setup.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything a couple of times...nothing.

Any other suggestions would be so appreciated.
