I need help with this error. My cartridges are genuine, new ones from the official store and I’ve tried everything that was suggested on the internet. However, I’ve seen a post in Hp that sent a private message about this in the hp society. Please give me a solution and a private message. Thank you

Hi @James629,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.

Is this the first time the printer is set up?

Are you using HP regular cartridges or HP setup cartridges?

May I have the exact product name and number? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

HP8720.  No, this is not the first time.  I have been using this printer, with no problems at all, for several years.  Recently, I was out-of-town for a couple months, so unplugged the printer.  When I returned, and powered it back up, I got the message, "New, unused cartridges must be used for startup."  This is not really a "startup" and the installed cartridges had plenty of ink.  I tried cleaning the contacts, unplugging for 1+ minutes, but it still gave the same message.  I was desperate to print something, so I ran out and paid $130 for all new cartridges.  I installed them but the printer still gives me the same message!  Now I'm out over $100 and it still won't print.  Help!

I have the same error.  Original cartridges that came with the printer would not print after print head alignment. Replaced with HP smart cartridges and that is where the problem has started. Tech support, after 2 hours, could no fix it after logging into my computer.  Advanced it to a "senior tech" and awaiting that call to fix it.

Did they resolve your issue?  Let me know because I still can't use my printer!
