Called them up, but my printer is out of warranty so they want $20 to go through their help desk support. No guarantee that they will actually be able to fix the problem. No refund of my money if they can't fix the problem. Based on other people's comments and lack of fixes for this particular problem, I have no confidence that my $20 would be well spent.

I sure wish they would relase a firmware update to fix this issue. It is very frustrating to need to print custom envelopes, and the printer won't do it because they are not one of the few standard options the printer recognizes.

I finally figured it out!! Well, not by myself. A company that sells envolepes explained how to print on them. When you do your word document you do 7.25 width and 5.25 height. When you do the custom envelope size you do the OPPOSITE, you do the width at 5.25 and the height as 7.25. That’s how it is inserted into the printer. Worked for me. Hopefully it will work for others.

Thanks, glad it worked for you! I'm trying to print portrait oriented envelopes, 6" wide and 9" high using Word. I have created a custom sized paper at 6x9", but I get a size mis-match error on my HP 3830 printer. are you envelopes portrait or landscape oriented?

The HP help center is a joke. These "volunteers" simply want you to resolve the problem without fixing it. I am having the same issues with this crappy printer/service. I've since cancelled my Instant Ink subscription and will be looking for a new printer, not HP. Sad, because I've been an HP customer since 2006 both for my home and business use.
