Device is only printing blank pages. Ink levels display as fine. I initially assumed the problem was only with wireless printing, even though the device is recognized on the network. I have followed the suggestions on the HP website. I have powered off and restarted. I have re-run alignment but report generated is a blank page. I have run Clean Cartridges and report it generated was blank. Print Status report and Print Quality report also produce blank pages. The device was not used for a couple months due to travel but in the past this has never caused a problem. Of course the irony is that the warranty just expired 7 days ago so not sure of my options. Any advice on how to resolve would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @KKGolf,
Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that the printer prints only blank pages. I will be really glad to assist you here. 🙂
Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 You’ve done commendable troubleshooting which is greatly appreciated.
For me to assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.
- Did you try with a set of different cartridges?
It looks like a hardware issue with the printer or its cartridges as it has not been sued for some time and the ink may have dried up.
Please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4650-all-in-one-printer-series/5447930/model/54479... if it has not been done already to try and correct the issue.
Please make sure to clean the printheads three times and replace cartridges if possible.
If it continues, then the printer may have a hardware issue and needs to be replaced by contacting HP phone support.
- HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true
- Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
- Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
- Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
- Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately. If the unit is under warranty repair services is taken care of by the manufacturer’s warranty
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Please note that I am not overloading you with a lot of troubleshooting steps. Instead, just like you, I am eager to ensure that the problem gets resolved. So I am providing you with more resources and information at your disposal to deal with the situation better.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂
.
Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂

I was able to pick up some new cartridges yesterday and that resolved the problem. All is working fine now.
I have used various HP printers over 15+ years and had never experienced this problem before. Since the ink supply levels indicated only about 50% usage I didn't expect this to be the root of the problem.
Thank you for the help.

This was not helpful at all. I continue to get this same problem. My 4650 will show a half full cartridge and all of a sudden go to blank pages, no fading, just white. I clean the cartridge and go through the troubleshooter. In the past, I bought cartridges, yes HP cartridges, but it only makes me wonder if I am getting flawed cartridges. It has only been a year and a half and I am ready to pitch this printer.

I am experiencing the same exact issues. I had started another blog thread on this issues but not sure how to get to that, so I will add here. This is an extremely low end printer so I am not sure that is the reason but it does have the HP Brand name on which is why I bought it. My printer is not used every day but I ran all the diagnostocs and cleaning multiple times. Since it appears the ink dries up somehow will HP be willing to replace the defective ink cartridges which in my case, are half full? Thanks diritar1

I am facing the same issue with black ink and none of the troubleshooting steps are helping. There is still ink left in the catridge. Super annoying that a sparingly used printer doesn't work when you need it to. Feels like an absolute waste of money.
