Since a recent (early August 2019) Windows 10 update - version 1903 dated 09/08/2019, I have been unable to print to my HP OfficeJet Pro 7720. I have tried multiple attempts to resolve this issue, including:
- Deleting and reconnecting to the printer using the Windows Settings/Devices facility
- Completely uninstalling and reinstalling all HP apps using the Windows Settings/Apps facility
- Reinstalling the Printer Driver from the HP Website
- Running the HP Print & Scan Doctor tool - no faults idenitified
- Clearing and restarting the Printer Spooler using Command Prompt (Administrator) cmd/net stop spooler & cmd/net start spooler and using the Windows Services App
- Checking and repairing windows files using Command Prompt (Administrator) cmd/SFC scannow
All with no success.
I am able to 'see' the printer, ink-levels and all the other status/settings using the HP Printer App and also in Chrome using the IP Address but I cannot print - even trying the 'Print Test Page' facility. The Printer is not in 'Use Offline' mode.
I can scan from the printer, using the HP Scanner App so this is clearly an issue with the printing side of things. Please help as at the moment I have a large printer-shaped paper-weight on my shelf....

Try adding a TCP/IP port.
-
Print a Network Configuration Report from the Printer Settings or Wireless menu.
-
Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab and then click Add Port.
-
Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
-
Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
-
Try printing.

@SmartRail, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Is there any error message on the computer when you try to print?
Uninstall the printer drivers which if installed already and try the steps below-
I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.
• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.
Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.
Hope this helps!

This is ridiculous - I have uninstalled every HP app that was on my PC.
I have then restarted my PC and used the add Printers & Scanners facility within Windows to reinstall the printer. It now says that the printer is installed correctly (no message to say that it doesn't have the driver this time) but when I try to print a test page I get the same error message.
I have tried installing the printer on another laptop and this fails too.

Try installing the printer using the HP Smart App on your computer. Refer to the document HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Windows 10) for help.

This method is not working either - I reinstalled the HP Smart App from the Windows Store and ran it but with no success, the app hangs at the 'Printer Setup' stage.
I have connected to the printer using the network IP address in Chrome and can see all the settings etc there to confirm that it is successfully connected to the network etc. I can see estimated ink levels and have checked to ensure that the firmware is up to date.
What is more surprising is that I can scan from the printer but I cannot print - it appears to be something to do with the way the printer is connected via the network. Should this be via a WSD port?

Just for information I have just successfully printed from another laptop, using the existing printer connection. This laptop is still runnning Windows 10 version 1803 but now wants to update to version 1903. As this appears to have been what has caused all the issues with the printer, I am going to cancel the update until such time as this is resolved.
