I had to print 200 pages of a document on card stock paper on HP OfficeJet Pro 8715. Unfortunately, it started doing partial feed of the paper, printing anywhere from 80% to just 50% of the document. It has no problem printing on 20 lb plain paper. After multiple attempts using different paper types, paper load in the bin, and switching back and forth, here's what I discovered:
- Setting the paper type to normal plain paper while loading the card stock seem to reset the printer to feed correctly
- Still, the misfeed continued approximately on the 15th sheet consistently
- By keeping a print job to 10 page at a time, I was able to print all 200 pages. A HUGE bother, but I got the document printed on cardstock without having to resort to another printer or even switch to a laser printer.
By being able to replicate the issue, I suspect that the printer's paper pickup registration gets messed up after around 15 pages. I was able to verify it was not the driver on my machine -- just the firmware issue on the AIO unit. I think HP can work to get this fixed. I'd be happy to send them the unit if they can improve the customer experience.
