the original ink cartridges for my printer are depleted.  I purchased third party (remanufactured) 952 cartridges, but the printer insists these are 'not installed correctly,' and will not recognize them or print.

I subsequently refilled the original cartridges, which is a much more environmentally friendly option than purchasing new ink.

the printer still says these refilled ink cartridges are depleted.

I have followed the support articles and updated the firmware (it was already up-to-date)

I have tried replacing the cartridges.

I have tried turning off the printer.

I have tried resetting to factory defaults.

It appears that the Dynamic Security is disabling the remanufactured ink, but the firmware is already 'updated,' and that didn't solve the problem.

I would be happy with bypassing the depleted ink setting as well.  Currently, my printer is non-functional because it thinks the cartridges are empty.

@8715refill, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge? Does the issue persist?

Here's the thing, yes, you can refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems.HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

QualityLogic, one of the world's foremost quality assurance organizations, tested the performance of HP inkjet print cartridges vs. remanufactured (refilled) brands. The results: original HP inkjet print cartridges far surpassed ink refills in both print quality and reliability.

Nearly one out of every six refilled ink cartridges tested was dead on arrival or failed prematurely. 70% of refilled cartridges had some form of the reliability problem
Count on HP original ink cartridges for consistent, worry-free printing. You may think you're saving money on remanufactured or refilled ink cartridges, but in the long run, the cost of wasted time, ink, and paper can more than make up the difference.

Hope this helps!

I tried the remanufactured ink cartridges (4 of them—CYM & Black), and also refilled the originals. The printer refused to recognize any of the remanufactured ones as being installed correctly.

When I replaced the now-refilled original cartridges, the printer still believes they are depleted and the printer refuses to work.

sorry if that wasn’t clearly stated in my original post.

This looks like a hardware issue.
