Hi have the exact same issue with my 8740. I have a Mac and a PC. Can you send me the instructions also. I get two errors either a blinking screen or the B83COE74 after it works for a few minutes.

Hi @KenM17,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The blue screen/error code B83C0E74 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 indicates a hardware failure or a corrupted system software. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for a few minutes, and then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  3. If the error code persists, try resetting the printer to its default settings. To do this, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously for three seconds, and then release them.
  4. If resetting the printer doesn't work, try updating the firmware of your printer to the latest version. You can download the firmware from the HP website and install it on your printer by following the instructions on the website.
  5. If the error code still persists after trying the above steps, it may indicate a hardware failure.

Note: Before attempting any of the above steps, it's important to take a backup of any important data on the printer, as resetting or updating the firmware can erase all the data on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
