I have spent my entire day trying unsuccessfully to fix this issue. I have attempted it a few times in the past but to no avail. Here goes: I have 2 computers (both HP) one running Windows 7 and works fine; the other running Windows 8 and is the problem. I have uninstalled the printer twice, run the "Print and Scan Dr" more times than I care to remember and completed all ten solutions in the troubleshooting section. Needless to say, I'm discussed. I'm not real computer savvy but can follow instructions. The printer worked when I first installed it about a year ago but on at least 2 different occasions would display "printer offline" when I would try to print. Once it corrected inself just by powering everything off, the next time I ended up doing a complete uninstall and reintall and it worked for a few days. Since then I have been taking my computer to the printer and connecting it via the USB cable to do my printing - not very convenient.
I am able to print a test page from the computer when I run the Print and Scan Dr but nothing else - word, excel, notepad, etc.
Please, please give me instructions to fix this issue.

Hi KJVilla,
I understand you have an Officejet 6600 that is having issues working with Windows 8. I will certainly do my best to assist you in resolving this!
I would recommend that you remove the software once more by following this Uninstalling the Printer Software document and then once the software is removed I'd like you to download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard to get the software reinstalled. It can often resolve issues such as this.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

I uninstalled the printer and software again. Ran the HP Install Wizard and got the following message "The selected printer is not currently supported by this wizard" "Get support and drivers for your HP printer at Customer Care. I clicked on the link and this is the exact same program that I have been using. So I'll again install the Full Feature Software for my Officejet 6600 and see what happens - I don't expect it to work. Will I be surprised? I'll let you know.

Hi KJVilla,
Thanks for the reply, sorry to hear that didn't work.
I will suggest that you download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and follow it's suggestions.
Let me know how it goes!

HP Print & Scan Dr does not help either. I cannot print a test page with the HPP&S Dr but am able to print an internal test page. It comes up with " There is a problem with the software that cannot be fixed with this tool. Remove the software by clicking uninstall. Reinstall the software with the product CD or by downloading the most current Full Feature software from HP Customer Care." I did not "uninstall" but disabled my firewall to see if that was the problem but no luck. Back to you. . . .

Hi KJVilla,
Thank you again for the reply.
I would suggest that you get the IP address of the printer (print the Network Configuration Page to get the IP address) and put it into the address bar of any Internet browser on your computer. Do you get a printer information page, or a page that says it could not find the address with some search results?
Has anything changed in your environment lately? Have you updated your home network in anyway, or have you started connecting to a VPN of any kind?
You can have a look through this Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection document as it has a lot of great wireless troubleshooting steps, such as Step five: Reset the printer and wireless router, and then restart the computer.
Hope this helps, have a great day!

This is crazy! I am having the same problem, my old computer printed just fine but now that I upgraded and have this new Windows....which I hate. Nothing is printing from my wireless connection and I didnt get cables with my printer so its not like I can just connect it. At first, all was well, but now my printer is offline and I cannot seem to fix it. I have tried all of the suggestions above and it has not worked. Please help! It should not be this much trouble to make these things work.

Thanks for your reply. I have put the printer ip address in the address bar and it brings up the printer information page. I have already completed the steps listed in the "printer does not maintain wireless connection document", including the reset printer and wireless router and turning computer off. This has not fixed the problem.
Nothing in my network has changed and I'm still able to print from my Windows 7 computer with no issues and it never goes "offline".
I firmly believe that this is an HP issue with Windows 8 and you need to develop a "patch" to fix it.

Hi KJVilla,
I can certainly understand where you're coming from!
I will suggest that you run the HP Print and Scan Doctor once more to see if it has anything else to offer, but if not, please call HP Tech Support for your area and ask what they can do for you from here 🙂
Have a great day!!
