Had same problem. Updated the firmware and the noise was not a prominent.  Then Support sent me a new powersuppl.  I installed it and its seemed to have fixed the problem but that was short lived (a few hours). Then I had a "print Head Failure" error message.   Called support and was told the reason for the noise in the first place was because the print head was failing.  They ended up sending me a new printer and no irritating noise and the printer is now working fine.

HP Recommended

I have just downloaded the Firmware update 'OJ6830-R1640A', updated the printer. Repluuged the printer directly into a wall power supply, no extension cables. The noise is worse! In fact, now I get the whistle in a tune! Livid. This is ridiculous. HP please help - it is giving me Tinitus!!!!
