HP Officejet 7612
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When attempting to change wireless settings on the printer itself I get the following message:

Wireless communication has been disabled. Contact your network administrator or the person who set up the printer.

Now, I AM the person who set up the printer.

I made NO changes to the system. The wireless should NOT be disabled.

I looked at other threads here with the same problem and I did the factory reset. The wireless reset was NOT available due to it being disabled.

I can edit the printer's setttings from the software on my computer (Windoes 10 64-bit) but I cannot change the settings on the printer itself. And through the Win10 HP Smart App. (The HP Smart app says "Not Supported" when I try to view the network information.)

I had to physically connect to the printer in order to even turn the wifi back on after I did the factory reset.

I have looked through all of the menu's looking for a print option. I can't find anything.

And I've already tried the other answers I've seen on this forum.

SO has anyone else fixed this problem? Do I have to bring my laptop and plug it into the printer every time? Cause that ain't gonna work for my husband who has a desktop on another floor of our house!

Seriously, this is getting ridiculous and something needs to be done about it.

Edit to add: I would NOT have disabled the wireless settings on the printer! That's the complete opposite of what I want available. If my husband needs to fix something, I want him to have access to the settings! I don't want it tied to my laptop which isn't even in the house half the time!

@Serenova Welcome to HP Community!

I understand you are getting an error wireless communication has been disabled on your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

As you mentioned you are getting an error wireless communication has been disabled on your printer.

Please try a few steps recommended below.

Try resetting the printer's network settings to default and check if it helps.

Reset the Printer Network Settings

To reset the printer network settings, complete the following steps:
1. On the printer control panel, touch (Wireless), and then touch Settings. Touch Restore Network
Defaults, and then touch Yes. A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.
2. On the printer control panel, touch (Wireless), touch Settings and then touch Print Network
&onfigurDtion to print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been
reset.
NOTE: Previously configured wireless settings are removed after you reset the printer network settings. You
have to reconnect the printer to the wireless network using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

If the issue still persists try restoring the printer to factory settings.

This section provides instructions about how to restore your printer back to the factory defaults.
1. Touch (Right arrow), and then touch Setup.
2. Touch Tools, and then touch Restore Factory Defaults

Hi, so.... yeah, I can't actually do that. Under wireless settings "Restore Network Defaults" is greyed out with a lock icon next to it. The same as "Wireless", "Wireless Setup Wizard", and "Wi-Fi Protected Setup".

I can't get the settings UN-greyed. And I actually did a factory reset of the printer before I ever posted my request for help! Somehow a whole slew of settings on my printer got locked out and I have no idea how or why. The factory reset did not fix my issue.

I haven't made any changes, my husband hasn't made any changes, and I sure as hell wouldn't have locked myself out of being able to change settings!

Every time I go to try and change something it says to ask the network administrator. Well, I AM the network administrator and I didn't change anything!

Something is very wrong with my printer!

@Serenova

Thank you for the update.

In that case, you have to perform the Semi-Full Reset.

Please look for a private message for the steps.

Have a nice day!!
