I bought a refurbished HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e Wireless Color All-in-One Printer a couple months ago and haven't had any real issues with it up until recently.
When I first set it up, the print quality was a little varied (i was printing on both normal and sticker paper so i can understand) with some streaking. But that went away and the prints were clear on all paper types. However, recently I just tried printing stuff again and now no matter what settings I use, the printer only prints in black and white/ greyscale. I've tried every fix I could think of and scoured the internet for hours to no avail.
The greyscale prints are good quality, but I need the color. The only thing I can think of that I did differently was I accidently changed the settings to print on photo paper when I had a sticker paper loaded up. No color or any ink came out on that paper. I reset it to print on normal paper and since then it hasn't printed anything in color. That was about 3 days ago. After having messed with it, it no longer prints in the typical greyscale but now looks poorly as if the color is just failing to print?
I have made sure that all settings are set to Color and that Greyscale is set to Off. I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, and I have removed and reconnected my printer multiple times.
Please, does anyone have anything I can try? I really need the color printing for some projects I'm working on and I can't afford a new printer.

Hi @mayaHDTV08,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, but let's go through some additional ones that might help resolve the issue.
- Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your color ink cartridges are not empty. Sometimes printers will default to grayscale if one or more of the color cartridges is depleted.
- Clean Print Heads: Print heads can sometimes become clogged, especially if the printer hasn't been used for a while or if there was a recent paper jam. Most printers have a utility in the settings menu for cleaning the print heads. Run this utility to see if it improves print quality.
- Align Print Heads: There should also be an option in the printer settings menu to align the print heads. This can help ensure that the colors are properly aligned and can improve print quality.
- Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve printing issues.
- Check Paper Type Settings: Make sure that the printer settings match the type of paper you are using. If you accidentally selected photo paper instead of regular paper, it might affect the print quality.
- Inspect Cartridges: Take out the color ink cartridges and inspect them. Sometimes cartridges can be defective or improperly installed. Reinstall them carefully to ensure they are properly seated.
- Print a Test Page: Most printers have a built-in option to print a test page. This can help diagnose printing issues and determine if the problem lies with the printer or the computer.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help you get your color printing functionality back
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your response!
The next time I turned on my printer it said it was undergoing some maintenance and started printing in color! I assume that was the main issue, but now it is all of the sudden saying my ink cartridges are low, but I haven't even printed barely anything in color since I've gotten the printer. Maybe like 4 pages total? This is the ink that came with my printer, so I am wondering if maybe there is another issue or if maybe they are faulty cartridges? My black ink is still totally fine and when I checked my ink levels before today, they all said they were near full but are now empty.
I've cleaned the print head a couple of times before but to no avail due to no color processing, but now that the color is kind of working I've cleaned it a couple times and the colors are all streaky. When I tried to print an image to test more, it turned greyscale halfway through - I assume because it says my ink is low now. I also aligned my printer heads and cleaned and reinstalled the cartridges. My paper settings are set to normal paper now!
Could my cartridges be faulty? Could I have been sent empty ones by mistake?
