I believe I had my Officejet Pro 8600 configured so that the keypad lights were out when the printer was in sleep mode. For some reason that changed recently and the keypad lights are always on. I am unable to locate the setting in either the printer settings or on the associated desktop application to shut down the keypad lights when asleep. Anyone know how to do this (shut off the keypad lights when the printer is asleep)?
Thanks

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer and the keypad lights stay on even while the printer is in sleep mode. I read that this started to happen recently. I'll do my best to fix the issue.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Did any changes happen on the printer like updates, paper jam or anything at all?
- Does the screen display go off in sleep mode or not?
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
Please let the printer get to sleep mode and check if the keypad light stay on. If the issue persists then perform a firmware update via this link: http://hp.care/2nhe6g8
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂
