i think i figured it out.
I opened my printer icon; then clicked on the "print, scan, & fax" tab; Then under "print" I selected "set preferences"; then "printing shortcut"; then "Paper Type" change to "card stock".
i cancelled my print job and started over and it all worked perfectly.
i am unsure if i need to switch this back to normal when i'm done or not. but at least i'm able to get this project printed.

i don't know what to tell you. I have about 20 different options. When i'm on the printer shortcut tab, under the Paper type option, mine starts with plain paper, then thick plain paper, a few types of HP paper, and all the way down. Card stock is in the middle for me.

Thank you so much for the response; it seems that I must have a lower model as mine only has about 6 options and not as you describe at all. I will take my back to Be st Buy and try something else. At any rate I appreciate your help!

Where do I find the place to select card stock? All I see is letter or legal, and a bunch of choices with short names that don't mean anything to me. This is the second time this as stopped accepting card stock and last time the printer was under warranty, and it took almost four hours with tech support to get help! They fixed it remotely, so I know there SOMETHING changed in the settings.

I got mine to work with 110 lb weight cardstock by putting the regular paper on top of it also. It worked at draft and normal speed and I DID NOT select the paper as cardstock. I just left it as plain paper.

I'm having the same issue with cardstock, heavy/glossy photo paper, etc. As of right now, this printer is essentially useless as I only got it for printing on cardstock and heavy photo paper. Did anybody have a solution, other than calling HP?
