I just installed a HP Smart Tank 7300 to my Macbook Pro (with sonoma 14,5). Everything went smooth.

But when I print with word or excel there is no color! When copying or when printing diagnostic page there is all colors. I have already restarted the Mac without result.

Hi @PeterBarve,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the HP Smart Tank 7300 is able to print in color when copying or printing a diagnostic page, but when printing from Word or Excel, it only prints in grey. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue.

Check Printer Settings

  • In Word or Excel, when you go to print, check the print settings window.
  • Look for an option called “Color Options”, “Print in Grayscale”, or something similar. Ensure that “Color” is selected instead of “Grayscale” or “Black & White”.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Ensure that you are using the latest drivers for your HP Smart Tank 7300. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
  • macOS can sometimes have compatibility issues with older drivers after a system update, so having the latest drivers can help.

Application-Specific Settings

  • Go to the Print Preferences in both Word and Excel to ensure the color settings are correctly configured.
  • You may need to check the application's own print settings rather than relying on system-wide print settings.

Reset Printing System

  • Resetting the printing system on your Mac can resolve configuration issues:
    1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Right-click on the printer list and choose Reset Printing System.
    3. Re-add your HP Smart Tank 7300 by clicking the + button and following the prompts.

Test from Another Application

  • Try printing from a different application (like Preview, a web browser, or another document editor) to determine if the issue is specific to Word or Excel.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, try reinstalling the printer software entirely and setting it up again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

No it is not working correct. I got it working in Word

In Excel the right buttons to chose color in printing turned up and I got one correct result. The next try it failed.  Then I opened in the preview program and color printing worked. Sou something is wrong
