Just purchased the 8710 all-in-one printer but I do not want to participate in the Instant Ink program. Is there anything I should be aware of or avoid when setting up the printer? Should I not use the ink cartridges included in the printer box?

Hi @Cougar7,
Thanks for reaqching out to the HP Support Forums with your inquiry.
I understand that you have purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer but you are not interested in signing up for instant ink. I would like to help.
When you are setting up the printer for the first time you must install the SETUP ink cartridges that came with your printer.
If the Setup Cartridges are HP Instant Ink compatible Setup Cartridges you will be given the chance to accept or decline he HP Instant Ink service on the printer's display before installing the drivers and software onto your PC.
Here is a support document that can be used as reference when setting the printer up - First Time Printer Setup.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Why you are doing this instant ink thing, is beyond my thinking. It is rediculous! Just let us do what we want to do instead of forcing us go through a bunch of balongna. I'm glad I found out about this before I purchased my new printer. It will be a cold day in H before I purchase a printer eith the instant ink program.

I have WIN 7 I am having a problem that I think is related to TypeApp.msi My brain can not remember the first word for sure. I'm so frustrated...if it isn't TYPE what else could it be. Oh my gosh I'm an idiot. Anyway I'll go on...HP Solution Center has said on it "The HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete" or something similar. So, I have deleted the icon from my desk top and I thought I deleted it from the Control Panel. I have been studying about TypeApp.msi and it sounds like it is a really big deal and could cause my computer some very bad/tecnical problems. I got the idea that because my HP Solution Center isn't working it is causeing the TypeApp.msi not to finish loading. I'm so very tired I must go. I hope the information here is enough to give you an idea on how you can help me. DUH I'm feeling very dumb...Koni1943 Please respond with anything, Please Koni1943
