I am tying to print 2, 5x7 photos onto an 8x11.5 hp photo paper. the print preview shows exactly what i want but when i print I end up with two 4.5 x 2.75 inch photos printed side by side on the upper half of a portrait layout. I have looked at all settings to no avail. again, the preview looks just right. the print interface software is hp photo creations by rocketlife. thanks in advance to whomever cares to help.

Apologies for jumping in unannounced!!
In your Photo Creations set up for your two 5X7 prints on the one sheet of 8.5 x 11 inch paper >
Multi-Up > Print my own > Add Photos >
Browse > Open first one and then the next photo to be printed on the paper >
Print >
Open Printer Settings >
Printing Shortcut > Photo Printing (with or without borders depending on your printer model)
tab Paper / Quality > Media Type > HP Advanced Photo Paper (or other)
Advanced > Size of Paper > Letter
The software takes care of the orientation for placing the photos on the paper and for adjusting each photo so it is printed at its best option.
Be aware that the Printer mandatory margin restrictions could interfere -- some printers require larger margins. Too, not all printers support "Borderless". If you find you are having issues with margins, check printer Specifications.
Example:
Note that the second "added photo" (in its original format) was a different "shape" (Aspect Ratio). Photo Creations has cut the photo to fit within the requested size. Depending on the intelligence of the photo editing software, this may or may not always work in your best interests. This time, it works just fine, cutting off just some extra "foliage" in the photo and leaving the main feature (Chickadee).

Hi,
Firstly two 5 x 7 can't be 8 x 11.5 interms of ratio therefore printer has to make 2 photos to fit or chop/cut photos to fit. Which software do you use to print ? Please try the following software
http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/consumer/digital_photography/free/software/photo-creations.html
And pick multi-up print.
Regards.

thank you for your reply and help. sorry for my lack of understanding, but the way i see it, two , 5 x 7 photos will fit onto an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper; at least from a dimensional perspective. is there something i am not understanding with the "ratio" that you mention? i am of course trying to minimize wated paper,
The print preview shows the 8.5 x 11 paper dimension as well as the 5 x 7 dimensions for the two photos on the preview screen.
I am using HP Photo Creations Powerd by RocketLife. I am unable to find a version number.
thanks again.

HP Photo Creations is good but the learning curve is high. I normally don't print photos at home - too expensive.
Have a good weekend.
