Ok So I got a new router so IP address has goen from 169.254.* to 192.168.*.
The network configuration page reads 169.254.124.x as the IP and wireless can't be found as the SSIS is hpsetup.
I connected the USB cable, downloaded the HP Printer Install Wizard Download and installed and it works awesome through USB.
My question is how do i get it working via network (wired/wireless).
It can't be rocket sceince, i've spent HOURS tryign to get this to work. The Wizard on Windows Vista would let me configure the setting easily, but whats the Windows 8 alternative !?

Hi rewn,
Thank you for your reply!
If the router is WPS enabled, then following the instructions in the video I provided should allow you to connect. Otherwise, if it doesn't connect, you can still use an Ethernet cable from the printer to the router, or a USB cable from the printer to the computer.

Hi @rewn,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are trying to setup your HP PSC 2510 printer as a wireless connection, after installing it as a USB connection. I am happy to help!
Connect the printer to your network with the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer, or connect with a router that supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). If your printer has a touch or text navigation control panel, connect using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
Connect the printer with the Wireless Setup Wizard
Use the guided Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer control panel to select your network name, and then enter the password to connect the printer to your network.
Gather the following items:
Network name (SSID)
Network security password (WEP key or WPA passphrase)
A computer that is connected to your wireless network
Your wireless-capable printer: Place it close to the computer during the installation
Make sure that the printer, router, and computer are all turned on, and that the computer is connected to the same wireless network you are connecting the printer to.
Disconnect any USB or Ethernet cables from the printer.
On the printer control panel, touch or scroll to the Setup, Network, or Wireless menu.
Touch or scroll to Wireless Setup Wizard, and then follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your network.
Connect the printer with Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)
If your printer has a basic control panel (no touchscreen or text navigation), or the Wireless Setup Wizard method did not work, try using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to connect the printer.
NOTE:
Both your printer and wireless router must support the WPS push button connection type. Consult your printer and wireless router manuals to confirm if they support it. If not supported, you must use the USB or wired connection type (if available) to use your printer with this driver.
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button
for two or more seconds, and then release the button when the wireless light starts blinking.
Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your wireless router.
Wait up to two minutes while the printer automatically establishes a network connection with the wireless network.

No mate, there is no Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) on the PSC 2500 Series as per the manual.
So are you telling me that with Windows 8.1 the wireless printer i bought can no longer be used as a wireless printer, has to be used via USB ?

Hi rewn,
Thank you for your reply!
The WPS button is on the router, not the printer, if you have one available. After some further research, this printer's specifications page says:
Minimum system requirements - Windows
Windows 98
Windows 98 SE
Windows Me
Windows 2000
Windows XP1
The only driver available is through Windows Updates by Microsoft. According to this website, Supported Printers for Windows 8.
So since, there is no Wireless Setup Wizard, on this printer, you will need a WPS capable router, and you can follow the instructions in this video, Setting up a Printer on a Wi-Fi Protected (WPS) Network, you can contact the router manufacturer, to find out if your router is WPS capable or not.
If this helps, please consider clicking on 'accept as solution.' And, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.
Hope this information is helpful! 🙂

So the router is WPS enabled. According to the video I should be using the WPS pushbutton mode on the printer.
But.. that doesn't exist.
So are you saying to bring the printer close to the router, press and hold the WPS button on the router and it should magically connect to the printer?
