Photosmart B210a

Where is paper sensor on B210a? For the last few weeks I get a paper size mismatch when trying to print from iPad. Followed the troubleshooting steps on hp.com still get the problem, now realise I get it all the time if I try to do a "Print Quality Report". Printer works fine from my windows10 home computer. Have seen on forum one user successfully resurrected his B210a by a thorough clean and a clean of every sensor he could find. I would like to do the same but not sure where paper sensor is - can anyone help me?  Thanks

My old Photosmart B210a was having problems- not starting because it did not recognise printhead. Replaced printhead and those problems were solved. However continued to have Paper size mismatch errors when trying to print A4 pages from my iPad Mini2. Although printer worked fine from my Windows 10 HP home computer.

On investigation found that the B210a internal  tools "Print Quality Report" and "Print Status Report" also failed with same Paper Size Mismatch error.

Tried several resets as suggested in Troubleshooting guides. Also spent days cleaning and recleaning the printer to no avail.

Solution I found eventually was to use the B210a tools menu to "Restore Factory Defaults".  All printing now works and no more Paper Size Mismatches. Have suggested that this should be a step in HP troubleshooting guides

Hi! @NeilP119, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand that you are getting paper size mismatch error on your printer.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Please try the steps recommended below.

Remove and reload the paper in the input trays, and then check the paper source setting.

1.Remove all the paper from all the printer input trays.

2.Reload the paper, and then adjust the paper width guides so they gently rest against the edge of the paper stack.

3.In the program, you want to print from, click File, and then click Print.

4.Make sure your printer is in the Name or Printers drop-down list box, and then click Properties, Printer Properties or Preferences.

5.Click the Paper/Quality tab, and then click Paper Source to select the correct tray.

6.Click OK, and then try to print.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot paper mismatch errors.

Please let me know the outcome.

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

This did not resolve the issue. I was having problems with the printer with "printhead missing" ,alignment errors and paper size mismatch errors.

Tried cleaning but this did not work, Installed a new printhead and this resolved the first two  errors but not the paper size mismatch. It must be a printer problem as get this even when printing the internal Print Quality Report.

I want to try one last clean but not sure where paper sensors are.

@NeilP119, Thanks for your response and time.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

Try uninstalling the printer software from your PC and install the latest printer software.

1. Navigate to Start >Type Devices and Printers in the Search > Select it from the results

2. Highlight your printer object and Right Click

3. Choose Remove Device

4. Highlight something else from the list

5. Click the Print Server Properties button from the toolbar

6. Select the Drivers Tab

7. Highlight the appropriate print driver

8. Click Remove

9. Check the Remove Driver and Driver Package option when prompted

10. Click OK

Please find the link to update printer software.

Since HP does not make the service manuals to service the printer.

You have to send the printer in for service to get it serviced.

Link to contact HP.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

No this did not help. As I said I got the problem when using the tools on the printer itself. Nothing to do with the printer software on the iPad.

Found my own solution. You should add to your troubleshooting site.

Went to printer tools and restored factory defaults and now all OK!!

Thanks for your reply.  I have already done what you suggested severaltimes to no avail.  I have also reset the printer with no luck.  I very strongly suspect that the paper sensor has been moved out of position or is damaged and need to find out where the sensor is located so I can inspect it.
