Printer actually set up and installed fine first time around and printed a test picture. Afterwards upon either going into time out or sleep, cannot get out of initializing mode.. Tried power cord suggestions and updating software and drivers, reinstalling etc.. on PC which is an HP by the way. Nothing works.... Any help out there??? About ready to go by another brand - don't have time to waste with this... Thanks!

When this happens there are only one thing you can really try, and that is a hard reset. If a hard reset won't clear what's causing the firmware to hang like it is, the only option is to replace the printer. If you are still in warranty, HP may replace the printer at no cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link will take you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it out and it is processed, it will give you the printers warranty information, a case number, and the phone number to call.

HP Technical Support Case Call Form

To do a hard reset:
1. Make sure the printer is on.
2. Pull the power cord from the printer.
3. Pull the power cord from the wall.
4. Wait 30 seconds.
5. Plug the printer in and turn it on.

This problem started recently.   It just hangs.  Hard reset goes to the same thing.  The ink carriage does nto move when opened so I cannot try the remove and replace cartridge suggestion.   Is there a way to release the ink carraige without breaking the printer?
