I have a Photosmart C4580 that I am trying to connect wirelessly to my laptop (HP Envy).  I am using Windows 10 and have downloaded the most recent (I think) driver and can get through the setup to the point where it asks me to connect the USB to the printer and latop.  At this point my laptop does not register that the printer is present.

I know the USB cord is functioning since I am able to print documents directly from my laptop when I use my USB connection.

When I print the wireless network test page all items show "pass" except for the SSID Nework Connection (it shows fail).

Can you help me get connected wirelessly?

@kfabick03,

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums!  I see from your post that you are having issues connecting your printer to the network. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

Is the printer connected to the network? Check the wireless light. If the light is steady blue, then the printer is connected to the network. If the light is flashing, then the printer is not connected to the network. Go to Setup - Network - Wireless setup wizard to connect the printer to the network.

Let’s start by performing a network power drain. Follow the steps below:

Turn off all the devices connected on your network including the PC, Smartphones, printer, modem (if present) and router. Make sure all the devices in the network are turned off / unplugged.

Wait for 2-3 minutes.

Now turn on the modem if present. Wait till all the lights are steady and idle.

Then turn on the router. Again wait for a couple of minutes so that the lights are all steady.

Then turn on the PC and other devices.

Let's try to restore the network to default settings:

You can reset the network settings to what they were when you purchased the HP All-in One.

To restore network defaults

1. Press the Wireless button on the product.

2. Press the button next to the down arrow on the display until Restore Network

Defaults is highlighted, and then press OK.

3. Confirm that you want to restore the network defaults.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to print the network configuration page to get the printer IP address:

Print network settings

You can print a network configuration page to see network settings such as the IP

address, communication mode, and network name (SSID).

To print the network configuration page

1. Press the Wireless button on the product.

2. Press the button next to the down arrow on the display until Print Network

Configuration Page is highlighted, and then press OK.

Once you have restore the printer to the network defaults, I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the support document to convert USB to Wireless:

HP Printers - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

My problem is still the same.  I followed all of the steps you listed for the power drain as well as restoring network defaults and printing the network configuration page (which sais "Network Status" is "Offline".  I am unable to follow the steps in the video you posted because my laptop is seems unable to finish the setup of the printer due to the software not reading the printer/laptop connection via USB.

Since my laptop is not perceiving the printer connection via USB, I cannot move forward to connecting via wireless connection.

As stated before, I know my USB cable is not malfunctioning because if I plug my laptop into the printer via USB I am able to select the printer and print directly (even though the software is not recognizing a direct connection in the setup wizard).

@kfabick03,

Thanks for the reply,

It looks like you were interacting with @Jeet_singh, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out.

I'm Raj1788 & I'm at your service.

Note: The printer and the computer should be connected to the same network to work wirelessly.

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-photosmart-c4500-all-in-one-printer-se... to download and install the drivers.

Once done, use the below steps for Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection.

HP Printer Setup & Software utility: Search Windows for 'HP', and then click the name of your printer in the results to open HP Printer Assistant. Click Utilities or Tools in the top menu bar, click Printer Setup & Software or Device Setup & Software, and then click Convert a USB connected printer to wireless to launch the utility.

I was unable to remove the driver from the computer.  When I tried to remove it I was given a warning that it was unable to remove because the driver was currently in use.
