I was printing in color when the printer stopped printing in color and switched to greyscale. I replaced the color print cartridge (with original HP), and although the printer shows the cartridge as full, it will not print in color. Black prints fine. I found an entry in the archives where someone had the same problem, only with the black not printing, I tried all the steps in the posting as well as referenced HP solutions but nothing works. I also tried to print in backup mode by removing the black cartidge but then in only 'printed' a blank page. At the bottom of the posting, there was a question asking about the expiration date of the cartridge but nothing that further elaborates on this question such as whether this is an issue and if so, why and what is considered an expired date?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Are you able to copy in color?
If you've trued all the steps from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-photosmart-e-all-in-one-printer-series-d110/4023244/document..., I recommend you to contact the HP Support Team regarding this as this could be a hardware issue.

Unfortunately, no it doesn't copy in color either. Because it doesn't copy in color, I would guess that it is a hardware type problem and not software (i.e. the driver); does this make sense? Although I put in a new cartridge, I'm wondering if it is bad and so I'm thinking of ordering another one hoping that's the problem. Does this sound logical?

Since your old and new cartridge had the same issue, it definitely sounds like a hardware issue.
I recommend you to contact the HP Support Team regarding this.
