Hi,

I have not used my Pro b9180 for some considerable time and the LCD screen shows all cartridges to be empty. I suspect these have all dried out and that the ink delivery passages including the print heads are by now blocked. Can anyone suggest a way to access all these to ascertain condition and perhaps to clean them?

Welcome to HP Forums @cadcro1,

Thanks for the post.

I see you are looking at the procedure to clean the cartridge your Photosmart printer. I will be glad to help.

If you have not used the printer for more than a month, the ink starts to dry up.

For the procedure to clean the cartridges, refer to page number 39 in the printer manual.

HP Photosmart Pro B9100 Series Photo Printers - Installing a Replacement Printhead

HP Inkjet Supplies - Aging Ink Supplies Stop Working to Protect the Ink System

HP Photosmart Pro B9180 and B9180gp Photo Printers - Replace the Ink Cartridges

Thanks for the reply, what do you mean by blue catch? Are you referring to the links suggested by me in the previous post?

If the links are not opening in a particular browser, try a different one. Internet explorer, Chrome or Firefox.

Sorry my last reply was so brief but I had guests arriving at that moment. I should have said that I could not see the blue printhead cover inside the 9108 and I cannot work out how to gain access to the printheads. I must have done so on first installation but that was 3 years ago and the quick start diagram does not look like the inside of my 9108. Any thoughts please?

Thanks for the reply, request you to refer page 34 for the procedure to replace the cartridge and printhead follows on the next page. Let me know if this helps.

You can also search for your printer on youtube and check if there are any videos that could help.

I am sorry to be a pain in t b but the print head cover does not seem to be recognisable in my printer as is shown in the diagrams. I can not identify the BLUE HEAD cover refered to in the process of head replacement. My installation seems to be diferent to that shown and I am wondering if mine is a different variant of the 9108. The assembly above the print heads seems to be well anchored and I am reluctant to force anything which might cause damage. Please help.

Thanks for the reply and providing the product number. I am getting the same articles with the product number as well. Would it be possible for you to share the photograph of your printer, where you are unable to find the latch.

Awaiting your reply.
