THERE IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE!
So I wasn't able to reinstall the C410a software and opened a separate thread; I had performed a factory reset (remove power, hold down # and 3 I think) then powered back on and upon setup I did not enable web services.
I went into setup and preferences and checked for a software update which there was, it downloaded and installed. I do not think it changed the firmware version but currently mine shows VAx2FN1631AR.
After the update I enabled web services, it completed and I received a "Congratulations!" printout with most likely a new email address (there is a thread on how to claim the old personalized one which I'll do later).
So then I thought let me go into apps and see what happens and now when it communicates you also see an HP web address underneath and sure enough it went into Apps without any problems.
So I don't think you have to go my route of a factory reset but just try updating the software on the printer and see if it fixes your issue.
Now if I can just resolve my other issue of being unable to reinstall the C410 software under Windows 10 64bit with the Anniversary update...

Hi Answer_man,
You are doing your name credit - the SW update solved the problem!!
For those still in doubt, on a C410
- press Configuration (wrench icon button)
- select Preferences
- select Product Updates
- accept the update; you will see:
- "Please wait"
- "Updating..." (a LED started flashing above the card reader)
- the printer restarts
Done!

I had exactly the same problem for a month. HP support was pointless and got me to reinstall everything and wanted me to reinstall windows on my pc and laptop, plus android on my tablet and ios on my ipad stating the problem is on our side.
Well actually its on the HP side, hence the update to sort the issues out. Why not just say update the printer rather than everything that connects to the printer. As they say Keep It Simple Stupid, KISS

Thank you Thank you Thank you. I have been trying to find a solution to the "Server connection error" message that keeps popping up so annoyingly. Silly me, I was expecting that either HP Support Assistant or the HP Print and Scan Doctor would provide any needed links to updates. Useless - only told me to download and install HP ePrint & Jet Advantage app which as far as I can tell may only work with Laserjets.

I have been experiencing the same thing. I finally ran across this...

Basically it appears as if HP has discontinued the service so our printers we purchased in part for that feature no longer work for eprinting. It would be helpful if there would be a quick way to find out rather than spending hours upon hours and days upon days trying to resolve a problem that cannot be resolved. Disappointing! Bad form HP!

Indeed. some of the 'cloud' based services once present are not available aymore.
Yet, with this Photosmart C410, the firmware update (see few posts back for the 'how to') resolved the error message and some of the networked funcitonality returned.

Only trouble is with trying to update it won't connect to the server so I can update it. I can print wirelessly and all other functions work with the exception of eprint because of the server issue. Is there some other way to updatell not mentioned? Thanks for your guidance.
