ePrint has worked well for a long time.  a month or so ago, started getting this error on printer display "Server Connection Error - There was a problem connecting to the server..."  Disabled web services.  Attempts to Enable again result in same error message.  All other print and scan functions are working from within the wireless network.

Hi Answer_man,

You are doing your name credit - the SW update solved the problem!!

For those still in doubt, on a C410

- press Configuration (wrench icon button)

- select Preferences

- select Product Updates

- accept the update; you will see:

  • "Please wait"
  • "Updating..." (a LED started flashing above the card reader)
  • the printer restarts

Done!

Hi RnRMusicMan,

Thanks a lot for the tips. Before going through the hassle of 'returning the printer to default settings' (the printer is properly connected to the network and date & time are OK, it has been working in the past), could you - as support rep - confirm server side all is up&running?

Hi @WhoIsIT,

If you do not want to revert the printer to its default settings. I recommend you to try assigning a static IP address and a manual DNS address to fix this issue. Try the steps below:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer (which can found by pressing the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel)
  • Enter the IP address on the web browser (Ex: chrome, IE) to enter the printer EWS page.
  • Go to the “Network” tab, click on “Wireless (802.11) then click on “Network address (IPV4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Thanks,

Hi Chimney_83,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I understand you want me to set the printer to on a unused IP address in my home network and assign two Google DNS server addresses (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), I guess this is to ensure the printer can resolve the url of the server it wants to connect to.

My printer is connected wired, it has obtained  IP=192.168.0.135  and DNS1=192.168.0.10 (=local router) from my DHCP. DNS2 has no value set. The same DNS setting works OK on all other devices on my home network. My router uses local ISP DNS 85.113.233.93 and 85.113.233.94.

I have tried manual settings (on the wired interface, but that should not make the difference I would assume). The printer suggests as IP address 192.168.0.250, the usual subnet mask and 192.168.0.10 as gateway. Entering the suggested DNS addresses is also possible. However, I cannot 'apply' these. The EWS webpage throws an error: An error has occurred. (ipv4Page-400).

Hence I do not seem to be able to enter manual (wired) IPV4 network settings.

BTW would you be able to check or confirm the server the printer tries to connect to is up&running?

@Griz3: Any change at your side? Able to connect again?

I am having these exact same issues and it just started a few weeks ago.  My printer is only connected wirelessly.  I also tried the suggested changes with the exact same error response.  Something has changed on HP's end and any help you can give us in getting this corrected would be greatly appreciated.

Wired C410a, just noticed this today, can't be all our AIO printers just went wonky all at the same time, what gives on your end HP?  You make changes on your end and not send out a firmware update to us?  Device gives this message whenever I boot the device now.  And NOTHING has changed on my end so please investigate on yours and get back to us with a solution.  Can't access anything web related, eprint, apps etc.  You guys broke my AIO, please fix it.

Would be great if HP could inform us on the status of the service.
Thanks!

I am also having the exact same issue, and even if I disable Web Services (from pressing ePrint button, then disable), I still get the same error message. It is also stopping me printing more than 1 page at a time without having to restart the print spooler service. VERY annoying!
